We will tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and God's might, and the wonders that God has done… that the next generation might know them, the children yet unborn, and rise up and tell them to their children, so that they should set their hope in God…” - Psalm 78:4-5

Together – There is a future filled with joy, depth, life and fun awaiting your church when you collide the wisdom of the elder with the wonder of the child in the same sacred space.

Together – A word whose time has come for all ages and stages at of faith formation.

Gather together at the beautiful YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park, Colorado, October 3-6 with some of the most passionate and gutsy pioneers in Cross+Gen faith formation from across the country.

Unlike most conferences where you attend skills workshops, sessions at the Birthing Cross+Gen Ministries Conference will include Case Studies presented by Cross+Gen pioneers who are currently leading their own change in their own settings.

These Case Studies will be presented in Ted Talk-ish style. After hearing three back-to-back Case Studies, you will follow the presenter of your choice out the door for a more in-depth session to discover how their experiences and insights might influence your own ministry. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and interact with the Case Study presenter.

Our guest theologian, The Rev. Dr. David Lose, President of The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia, will expand on the theme of the theology of the Cross+Gen Movement, worship and biblical imagination as they relate to postmodern models of preaching and teaching. Learn more about Dr. Lose here.

Vision sessions to plan and implement Cross+Gen will be led by Dr. Rich Melheim and Rev. Jen Rome.

At this unique conference you will have the opportunity to:

  • Immerse yourself and your team in the latest thoughts, designs and experiments in Cross+Gen faith formation

  • Explore what Cross+Gen leaders are learning, how they have succeeded, how they may have failed, and how they are failing forward for the sake of the church

  • Discover how to craft your own approach, build a dream team and cast a powerful vision for Cross+Gen worship, education and relational ministry in your setting

  • Go forth with a plan, a passion and a posse to support you in your own designs for Cross+Gen faith formation

If you believe it is time for a serious exploration that moves your church away from a parentless, age-segregated classroom model and toward a parent-involved, Cross+Gen worshipping community, this conference is for you.

The first two Cross+Gen conferences were attended by folks from 29 states and six denominations. The pastors, youth workers, volunteers, Christian educators, Synod/District staff and para-church leaders who attended found them practical and pivotal.

For an in-depth exploration and explanation of this conference’s guiding values, be sure to read the Founder’s Note.

A CASE FOR CASE STUDIES

The best graduate schools in the world today are all about Case Studies. Real situations. Real people. Real experiments and experiences. Real failure. Real hard-learned solutions.

One unique aspect of our time together is your opportunity to hear Case Study presentations from the “Let’s Kill Sunday School (before it kills the church)” books. Listen to their visions and struggles. Ask how they built their teams, set their course, navigated through rough waters and weathered the storms along the way. Discover the beauty, depth and wonder of what they have learned that has confirmed their call to this systems change. Along with their presentations, our Case Study leaders will make themselves available to you throughout the conference for discussion and fellowship.

OUR LOCATION

We are thrilled to be back in stunning Colorado for the 2016 Birthing Cross+Gen Ministries Conference. We will gather at the YMCA of the Rockies to dream, scheme, explore, and learn together. We look forward to the multiple benefits of conference attendees and Case Study presenters all staying and eating onsite, such as relaxed fellowship, meeting friends old and new, time for in-depth discussions and no need to drive to a hotel at the end of the day! Surrounded by the breathtaking majesty of the Rocky Mountains, the setting is sure to nurture and refresh body, mind and soul.
